What are you enjoying about your college experience?
I set my own schedule every semester, which enables me to do complete assignments, work on papers/projects, and maintain my personal life outside the classroom.

How do you feel your time at Legacy helped prepare you for college?
My experience at Legacy taught me how to be efficient, manage my time with multiple obligations inside and outside the classroom, and keep my faith at the forefront of my life.

How was your adjustment to the college schedule based on coming from a university-model school?
The only adjustment I had to make in college was being away from home. At Legacy, I was able to experiment with my studying schedule to see when I was most efficient while studying. The schedule was normal, the only adjustment I had to work through was being away from home. Legacy allowed me to have a college style schedule since 6th grade, so my freshmen year of college has been full of familiar experiences.

What are some of your fond memories/favorite experiences while at Legacy?
Learning how the motion of creation can be explained through equations in Mrs. Wingo’s Physics class, receiving a unique, but accurate, take on world history from Mr. Huckaby, and being the first pitcher to start, record a strikeout, and record a win on Legacy’s baseball field, were all great memories. However, my fondest memory of Legacy was watching my older sister, and role model, Sarah walk across the graduation stage and receive her diploma in 2015. Being at Legacy allowed me to see her throughout my years of middle school even when we she was in high school. We built a strong relationship, for which I will always be grateful.

If you had to describe Legacy in one or two sentences to somebody, what would you say?
Legacy allows students to gain real world experience, before real world experience is necessary to succeed. Meaning, Legacy gives kids the tools to succeed, and the ability to use them, before they age out of the kid’s menu at restaurants.

How does your spiritual life play a role in your college experience?
Being surrounded by the Christ driven staff at Legacy motivated me to be baptized when I was in middle school. In college, I have realized how crucial my faith is to my life, which had motivated me to stay consistent in attending church, go through different parts of the bible with my mentor, and maintain an active relationship with Christ through prayer.

Do you feel Legacy helped to grow you spiritually and for doing God’s work?
The biggest tool Legacy equipped me with was the ability to use critical thinking skills, which is a must have when trying to understand the bible. Legacy allowed me to make my own discoveries and form my own opinions, while giving me a Christ-centered education. It was through the dedication of my professors in high school that I was motivated to be a professor. Also, I had a great experience overall with my coaches at Legacy. They instilled a passion for athletics and set the standard for how Godly men should act. Their example sparked my interest in becoming a coach as well.

Is there anything else you would like to share with Legacy families or those interested in Legacy?
Legacy is a university-model school, which, to me, means it is a blend of the best part of every other model of schooling.

Legacy offers:

  1. The structured class environment found in public high schools and four-year universities
  2. The parent-student interaction many families have switched to homeschooling to receive
  3. The safety and peace of mind for parents a private school offers
  4. The Christ centered education schools we’re meant to have

Legacy is not simply a school, it is an investment in your child’s success at the highest levels of education. Whether they want to become a doctor, lawyer, professor, or serve in the military, Legacy offers the families who take full advantage of its unique system a head start over students from all other models of schooling.
