Discipleship & Service

Developing Character Witnesses of Christ

A Solid Foundation

To become true followers of Jesus, students must first gain a deep understanding of who He is—they need to know Him. Legacy’s Bible courses are designed to provide a strong foundation in the teachings of the Bible, focusing on the nature and character of Jesus, the qualities of His people, and the mission of His Church. By the time students transition to middle school, they will have a clear understanding of who they are following and what it means to be a disciple of Christ, setting the stage for deeper exploration of biblical principles.

Bible and Discipleship
Course Overview

At Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy!, this course nurtures faith, deepens biblical understanding, and equips students for Christ-centered living. Through scripture study and practical application, students grow spiritually and develop strong discipleship skills.

Guiding Principle

Elementary

Bible passages are studied with a focus on the following questions:
  • What do we discover about Jesus from this passage?
  • How is the Lord’s character revealed?
Students pray about the godly character traits revealed in the passage, asking the Holy Spirit to develop these traits in their own lives. Homework assignments are designed to encourage co-teachers to interact with their children and help students establish the daily habits of Bible reading, prayer, and Scripture memorization.

Chapel

At Legacy, we hold monthly chapels for both elementary and upper school students, creating a special time for worship and spiritual growth. Each chapel features dynamic speakers who are invited to inspire and encourage our students in their walk with Christ. These speakers bring fresh perspectives and powerful messages that challenge students to grow in their faith, strengthen their relationship with God, and live out their beliefs in their daily lives. The chapel experience fosters a sense of community, unity, and spiritual development among all students, allowing them to connect with God and each other in a meaningful way.

Service Projects

Legacy provides a variety of service opportunities that grow alongside students as they develop their character. Elementary students are introduced to different charitable organizations through monthly chapel services, while upper school students can participate in SALT, a program dedicated to service activities each semester, and take part in summer mission trips.

Additionally, Legacy hosts an annual school-wide family service event called Hineni, a Hebrew word meaning “Here am I,” symbolizing complete availability. The goal of Hineni is not only to foster community within Legacy through service, but also to express gratitude to the businesses and churches that have supported us, demonstrating our appreciation in a tangible way.

As students progress from elementary Bible studies into Discipleship courses, they delve further into God’s Word. They gain an overview of both the Old and New Testaments, study the history and leadership of Israel, and begin to explore the core tenets of a biblical worldview. Students also learn about the origin and formation of the Bible, discovering how it has been consistently validated through archaeology, history, and science.

In grades 8-12, students engage with more advanced Bible study tools, empowering them to explore and answer life’s toughest questions. Each course is built around an in-depth study of the Bible. Students compare the biblical worldview with the leading humanistic worldviews of our day and begin to view relationships and social issues through the lens of the Bible. Ultimately, students will recognize that the Holy Spirit guides us as we abide in Christ.
