FAQs

At Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy, we desire to partner with parents to inspire their children to be college-worthy, character witnesses of Christ. We will accomplish this through an environment that allows parents to spend more time with their children via the university-style schedule and through a college preparatory curriculum based on a biblical worldview. Learn more about Legacy by reading the information below:

Is Legacy Prep Accredited?

Yes, Legacy is accredited through Cognia (formerly AdvancEd), a nongovernmental, voluntary agency that accredits nearly 13,000 public and non-public institutions throughout the world. Cognia accreditation is recognized across state lines, which not only eases the transfer process as students move from accredited school to accredited school but also assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.

University-Model schools combine rigorous academics with Christ-centered character development. They recognize parents as the primary influence in their children’s lives by shifting time from school back to the family. At Legacy, your student will receive on-campus instruction from our highly trained faculty, as well as at-home learning led by a parent. Believing strongly in a partnership between families and staff, we proudly refer to our parents as co-teachers.

Families and Staff must be in agreement with the following Statement of Faith that guides the ministry of Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy:

  • There is one sovereign God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • There is one way of salvation: faith in Jesus Christ, the son of God, who lived as a man, died for the sins of all men, and was resurrected so that all who believe in their hearts and confess Jesus as Lord with their mouths will be saved.
  • There is one book of truth: the Bible, God’s written revelation to man, authoritative, reliable, and inerrant, without the need of any other document to complete its message.
  • There is one body: the church, with its many parts acting in unison.

Legacy is comprised of grades Pre-K through 12th. Our lower school is Pre-K through 4th grade. Middle school is grades 5th-8th. Upper school is 9th-12th grade.

Students meet on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule for grades Pre-K through 4th and Monday/Wednesday/Fridays for 5th through 9th grade. 10th, 11th and 12th grade students are on campus five days per week, attending classes for one-hour blocks on MWF and 90 minute blocks on Tu/Th, more closely simulating a college schedule.

Our teachers provide a detailed plan for each home day. The weekly schedule can be viewed through Blackbaud, Legacy’s student and parent portal. Students will learn new material with their teachers on campus and then review that material with their co-teachers.

Our graduates are accepted to many top universities across the nation.

At Legacy, the safety and security of our campus are our top priorities. We have two armed police officers on campus from 8 AM to 4 PM, as well as during special events. Multiple security cameras are strategically placed around the campus, and all exterior doors, along with individual classrooms, remain locked throughout the school day. All visitors must check in at the front lobby and receive a visitor badge, which must be worn at all times while on campus. Additionally, Legacy’s security board is made up of Texas Rangers, Army veterans, current and retired police officers, and other highly trained professionals.

Legacy uniforms are ordered through Lands End. Our dress code policy is outlined in the Family Handbook.

The PSAT is administered to students in grades 8th through 11th in October. Kindergarten through 7th grade students take the IOWA test in April.

Legacy aims to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities to engage students. Whether they are exploring new interests or honing their talents, our programs are designed to encourage personal growth and the development of Christian character. Through these activities, students are given the opportunity to express themselves in ways that honor God while building essential skills and fostering creativity.
