Elementary Principal

I am a native Texan!  I was raised in Canton a small east Texas town of about 3,000 residents until the first of each month when the town grows to over a 100,000 on First Monday Weekend.  I accepted Christ as my savior at Oak Grove Baptist Church when I was nine years old.  My husband and I met at Jerry’s Pizza in Canton through a mutual friend.   On July 3, 1982 we were married at First Baptist Church of Canton where we served faithfully and had two precious children Ashley Bontrager Snell and Brett Bontrager.    After serving at First Baptist for eleven years in lay positions God called our family into ministry.  I was a public school teacher at the time and my husband was employed by Halliburton in Carrollton, Texas.  We followed God’s call to enter seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1992.  We have been serving in full time ministry since.

Education has always been my passion and calling from God.  I retired from public school May 2014 and joined the Legacy staff August 2014.  I am excited about partnering with others to build strong leaders for Christ.  Some of my favorite scriptures come from Deuteronomy 6: 5-9 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”  I consider it a blessed opportunity to help equip families as they train their children in God’s Word.
