The robotics program exists to encourage the development of student’s God-given talents

Robotics Program

Legacy’s high school robotics program exists to encourage the development of student’s God-given talents and interests in the areas of math and science. By doing so, the program prepares young minds to work and thrive in our increasingly technological world and global economy. The teams participate in competitions held by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a program developed in 1989 in order to inspire more interest in the fields of science and technology. In these competitions, our teams will design, program, and build robots that complete seasonal challenges. This year, our teams, will compete against other schools and organizations across north Houston in the fall and spring and then at the state level with TAPPS at the end of the season.

Tech pathways to innovation

Elementary

Elementary students are engaged in technology with Chromebooks and interactive classroom smart boards. Friday Electives offers Junior Lego Robotics, Keyboarding/Google Fun and computer coding classes.

Middle School

Middle school students continue technology skill-building in word processing, spreadsheets, keyboarding, hardware/network configurations, computer components, basic programming in Scratch and JavaScript, and physical programming with circuit boards and LEGO SPIKE robotics.

High School

High school students are provided with a comprehensive, fast-paced exploration of text-based programming and engineering concepts through 3D design/3D printing, soldering, electrical schematics, designing and building functional prototypes with programmable circuit boards, motors, sensors, and FIRST Tech Challenge robotics.
